When draining waste oil or antifreeze from a vehicle, it is very important to use a different style of container for each fluid type. We come across many situations where workshop technicians report that pumps have stopped working, or drainers leaking are from their seals.
When using a portable waste oil drainer, always make sure that any debris dropped into the oil collection pan are removed immediately. The collection pan has a sheet gauze to help stop seals and other small parts entering the main collection chamber. If these items make it through the gauze, they will block and cause damage to the pump seals and other moving parts when extracting oil from the waste oil drainer to the bulk waste oil tank at the dealership. If the waste oil drainers fail to work, the workshop will gradually grind to a halt as the means of disposing of waste oil is reduced. The simple task of removing debris from the collection pan can save vehicle workshops thousands of pounds in lost revenue due to downtime.
Never use a waste oil drainer to collect waste antifreeze from a vehicle as you will instantly damage the pump!
Waste antifreeze should never be collected in a drainer made for waste oil!
Antifreeze has totally different characteristics to waste oil and will strip the seals and pump housing of lubrication, causing the pump unit to come to an abrupt halt and will need a costly repair.
