Do you know if your brake testing equipment is code locked?

When purchasing a brake tester there are many factors to consider, does it have OEM approval? Is it suitable for ATL testing? Is it price competitive? But arguably one of the most important questions before purchasing a brake tester; is it code locked?

There are many Brake Testers being sold which are code locked, which only allows the manufacturer and the supplier access to the machines, for mandatory calibrations and servicing, in line with Health & Safety regulations. This means that customers are limited with their options when it comes to aftercare of these machines, as many can be tied into calibration and servicing with the supplier, rather than having the complete flexibility to choose a servicing partner independent of their equipment provider. Something that is not always made clear at the time of purchasing the equipment. Access codes can be requested by customers; however these generally have to be paid for and in some cases paid annually.

Straightset, as a leading independent garage equipment company, has always carefully selected its manufacturers, choosing to supply only those with the same ethos as us, offering exceptional aftercare support. Straightset do not agree with code locking equipment and do not knowingly supply brake testers which are code locked. Giving our customers the control of their equipment they purchase.

We supply and install brake testers from manufactures including Beissbarth and Nussbaum, which are suitable for Class IV and VII testing. See our range here.

For us it’s not just about supplying garage equipment, it’s about keeping you operational.
